Surfers In A Bicycle Race?

Team Surfing USA, composed of Laird Hamilton, Tim Commeford (bassist for Rage Against the Machine), Don Wildman (founder of Bally Total Fitness), and Jason Winn (founder of Bonk Breaker Energy Bars) took part in a 3,000 mile “Race Across America” road cycling relay race last week to earn money for a charity.
The team showed up in their board shorts and took some heckling for not taking the event very serious. However, the surfers showed up the hecklers by taking over first place in its category, that is, until a rival team’s support vehicle hit and broke, Jason Winn’s ankle.

Build Some Karma - Help with Disabled Surf Camp

The Coastal Bend Surfrider Foundation will once again have the privilege of hosting the Disabled Surf Camp on June 28-29. This year we’ll be meeting in front of the Sand Castle Condominiums in Port Aransas at 6:00 PM each evening. We’ll need plenty of longboards, or soft tops if you have one, for our gathering on Sunday evening. On Monday evening soft top surfboards will be provided by Morgan Faulkner’s Surf Camp.
We’re going to need at least 30 volunteers to help with this very stoking adventure. Please help, you will be glad that you did.
DIRECTIONS
Take SPI out to Padre Island, turn left on Highway 361 going to Port Aransas & go 18 miles to the first stop light in Port Aransas, turn right and continue on G street until you reach the beach, turn right on the beach and drive south until you see the Sand Castle Condominiums.

Sanuk - They Put A Smile on Dad’s Face

I bought my Dad a pair of Sanuk footwear last year for his birthday. It is the one pair of shoes (or sandals) that endlessly raves about. He loves them. Saturday I noticed that he had worn holes in the bottoms of his favorite pair. I decided to buy him another pair for Father’s Day.
Wind & Waves has a great inventory of Sanuks. I found a pair and made my Dad’s day. No longer will my Mom have to hide her shame after toting around my father is his “hole-y” shoes. Hopefully this pair will make it until next year - when I plan on buying him another pair.
