I just received some information about a sweet DSLR put out by Canon. The new Canon 7D DSLR has some nice HD video capabilities at a price that is semi-affordable. One of the leading proponents of DSLRs for video shoots is Vincent Laforet. Check out his video short featuring Jamie O’Brien.

The 7D shoots 1080p video in 24 or 30 frames per second…making it a surf video making machine! That’s right, video on a DSLR. Hey, all you rich surfer kids, make sure to put this one at the top of your x-mas list.

My wife recently purchased a pair of Sanuk “Yoga Mat” sandals at Benjamin’s. I have caught her raving about how comfortable they fit and how “happy” her feet feel in the “Yoga Mats” more than once this past week.
The sandals have a base made from the same material that yoga mats are molded from – hence the name. My wife loves wearing sandals – but the Sanuk “Yoga Mats” are her new favorites. They look good and feel great, not to mention, they come in a variety of colors and feature “Power Balance” technology (I have know idea what “Power Balance Technology” is).
My wife knows her sandals…so these must be good.
This was too good to pass up. Ex-governor, Sarah Palin, left me rubbing my chin and mumbling “huh?” Palin’s rambling adios-message to Alaska provided late night fodder for The Tonight Show. Conan O’Brian invited “master thespian” William Shatner to recite Palin’s lyrical disjointed speech-spew.
Slater’s win in Brazil puts the 9 time world champion back into contention for a possible 10th world title. After three 17th place finishes, Kelly made a last-minute decision to enter last week’s contest. Slater had to endure late flights, missing baggage and even surfed his first heat on a borrowed surfboard.
Slater entered the contest ranked 25th in the current ASP standings. His win in Brazil propelled him to 9th.
Kelly will surf the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay this week – a contest that he has won more than any other surfer. Slater has won at J-Bay four times…this contest could make Parko start to sweat.
The big news of this year’s Quiksilver Pro France was that Slater lost. The lesser know news is that a local took part in the event.
Nikki Dahlberg, a Corpus Christi surf photographer, arranged a trip to France that coincided with the ASP event. Nikki was able to obtain a press pass, get back stage access, and take some great photographs of the contest using… her Coastal Surfing credentials (it’s a great story, ask her about it).
