Extreme Sized Surfing Apparel

logo

Perhaps you have an addiction to bacon double-cheese burgers and super-sized fries?  You discover your boardshorts no longer fit. You drive over to your local surf shop only to find that you can no longer squeeze into the largest shorts and wetsuits on the rack.  I call that a catch-22.  You need to surf to loose that ponch… but you can’t because your gear is simply to darn small!

Fat Bastard Surf Company to the Rescue!  Fat Bastard Surf Company provides surfing apparel and gear for the “husky” surfers.  The heftier surfers can find clothing at sizes up to 7XL and boards with 4 inches of foam.  That’s floatation!

Bum Tour

logo

You may have noticed that the surf blog went a few days without an update.  I spent the last couple of days in Atlanta, Georgia at a technology conference.  My highlight of the trip was my $12.00 “Bum Tour.”

I had some time to kill on Sunday morning so I decided to walk around Atlanta to get a feel for the city.  A few blocks from my hotel a homeless guy introduced himself and started walking with me.  Normally I would have told the bum to get lost but this guy seemed friendly, clean, and was interesting to talk to.  He showed me around Centennial Olympic Park and eventually made sure I found the right bus to the Atlanta Zoo.    He told me the YMCA charges $12.00 a month for a place to crash and take a shower.  I forked over the greenbacks and wondered if he was hustling over to the nearest convenience store for a bottle of 40oz Malt Liquor or had he just secured another month at the “Y”?  Either way, I got my $12.00 “Bum” tour.

Atlanta was a great city.  It is the friendilest city I have visited.  The parks are well kept, the public transportation system is adequate, and the food is great.

Mexican Pipeline Roars

logo

Details:
On Monday, June 19th, a day prior to the kick off of the Rip Curl Pro Search WCT “Somewhere in Mexico”, a massive swell rocked Puerto Escondido. Beach side cafes were wiped out and water flooded the streets of Playa Zicatela. Two teams of tow-in surfers (Scott Chandler, Chuck Patterson, Carlos ‘Coco’ Nogales, Ken ‘Skindog’ Collins, Chad Jackson) went out at first light in what many are calling the biggest Mexican Pipeline in years. Veteran director Dave Ogle (Puerto Underground 4) was kind enough to share his ‘secret’ filming spots so that David Palmer could capture this epic day on film.
Music: “Saved By Audio” by Mark Smith; “Verse 6″ by Planetman
Video & Editing: David Palmer, Palmer Productions (with thanks to Dave Ogle)
