I’ll go ahead and throw in another one of my favorites. You simply can’t get enough of this song. One of the few "rap" songs that have made my playlist…the one…the only…RUN DMC!
"Walk this Way" – Run DMC and Aero Smith ![]()
RUN DMC…Walk This WAAAAAAY
Hawaiian hot-shot surfer, Jamie O’brien scored a perfect 10 on his last wave to win the Air Tahiti Nui – Von Zipper Trails. He surfed in thick 6 – 8 foot Teahupoo slabs and caught a heavy set with only moments on the clock to lock in the win.
“I’ve never came from behind the eight ball like that in the last minute,” said O’Brien. “I figured it’s the kind of stuff Kelly (Slater) does, so I thought I would give it a try."
Pre-surf music should get your blood flowing, amp your body up and energize your soul. One of the songs that has a special place on my pre-surf session play list is "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet. This song kicks!
Give it a spin using the iTunes link below.
I’m trying to compose a top 10 pre-surf session song list. Do you have any favorites?
This Australian band is freak’n great!
Raw guitar licks, catchy lyrics, a great beat, and even an occasional didgeridoo make Marshall and the Fro a must listen. Unfortunately, I can’t get my hands on any of their music. I’ve tried iTunes and the band’s web site and I simply can’t download or purchase an album. For now, I’ll have to settle for the YouTube video.
Song: "Thongs"
Band: Marshall and the Fro

Video: Surfing, thongs, and damn good music!
I was checking out some of the ASP stats this evening and was surprised to find a native Texan on the ASP World Tour. Chris Ward, aka "Wardo", was born in Galveston, Texas in 1978. His favorite surfing break is Backdoors and his career winnings are 300,000 big ones. His current rating is 38th.
