Is there hope on the horizon? After weeks of flat to knee-high surf mother nature sends a storm roaring toward the gulf. Hurricane Gustav intensified from a tropical depression to a Category 1 hurricane in a quick 16 hours. The storm is poised to strike Haiti where it will weaken before reemerging back into the gulf. Current models track the hurricane to the north of Texas, but it is still too early to properly predict where or if the storm will hit the US.Â
Unfortunately, gas prices ($1.00 a barrel increase) have already reflected the fact that the storm is tracking toward the oil producing areas of the Gulf. I plan on filling up my cars this afternoon.Â
Prepare the boards and keep a careful eye on this one.
